Setlist: The Very Best Of Blue Oyster Cult Live
Blue Oyster Cult was known as a phenomenal live band with a terrific laser light show, but toiled in the studio trenches for years before hitting the charts with "(Don’t Fear) The Reaper.” There are three previously unreleased performances on this volume in addition to songs pulled from BOC’s three live albums. BOC appeared locally several times during my youth, so many songs conjure up foggy memories. Power-packed concert versions of two big hits "(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” and "Godzilla” will ring a bell with classic-rock radio listeners. Highlights include the guitar pyrotechnics on "Cities on Flame,” "ME 262,” and "The Red & The Black;” Albert Bouchard’s playful drumming; and the show-stopping "5 Guitars,” anchored by Joe Bouchard’s bass. Both of these Setlist volumes are great, even though the liner notes are hard to read on my computer. I just wish this one was a DVD.
