Randy Bachman and Fred Turner will be taking care of business - again. The BTO cofounders are recording a new CD and will take that on the road, along with their past classics next summer. At a Winnipeg press conference yesterday, Bachman said, "It feels pretty incredible. It's the old getting on a bicycle thing. We got in the studio this week and it was like, wow, no time had ever passed. We're having a lot of fun." Turner added, "The great part about it is we've got new songs. That's the kicker - that's what brought me back. I was retired for five years and I thought, 'It's over. This is done, just enjoy yourself (and) go fishing.' I'm surprised to be back. It's like being reborn. It feels really good." The guys also played samples of three of their new songs - one featuring Bachman, one with Turner and one on which the guys sing together.
So far, Bachman Turner, as they will be billed, have firmed up just two dates, both of which are in Europe - at the Sweden Rock Festival in Norje, Sweden on June 12th and the High Voltage Festival in London on July 25th. They promise to announce a Winnipeg date sometime after the first of the year. Their website displays the duo's new logo, which Randy describes as a "B and a T, really strong looking" and is counting down toward its official March 1st launch.
