After touring as a sideman with Delaney and Bonnie, Eric Clapton formed Derek and the Dominos out of Delaney and Bonnie's rhythm section (Bobby Whitlock, keyboards and vocals; Carl Radle, bass; and Jim Gordon, drums) and The Allman Brothers' guitarist, Duane Allman, and then released the penultimate rock love song, "Layla," which takes centerstage on this iconic rock album.
