Sir Paul McCartney has been named Artist of the Year at the inaugural Ultimate Classic Rock Awards.
The 69-year-old musician beat off strong competition from Motley Crue's Nikki Sixx, Chickenfoot's Sammy Hagar and Alice Cooper to take home the honour with 34 per cent of the vote in the poll.
The Eagles hadn't released any new music in almost two years, so as a gift to their fans, they released this old Charles Brown Christmas song "Please Come Home For Christmas" in 1978. Don Henley conveys the aching and pleading of the original and it is one of the better Christmas songs out there. (T. Magnum)
